Sorry for not uploading the pictures from Nikoi island just yet. I’m Holland bound at the moment, to take care of some formalities to migrate officially to Denmark (a.o. I’m not officially not a Dutch residence anymore). I definitely am surprised about how bureaucratic some of the processes are!
In addition, I have to prepare for my thesis defense and I’m not sure how stressed out I have to be for this. It is the last step of being a grad student and I definitely feel mixed about leaving the student life behind me!
But also some really good news, I have my MacBook Air back so expect more fun postings – which means you have to check out my page even more
And in Denmark that means I almost don’t have to wear my winter coat and gloves anymore (of course everyday that I actually thought I don’t have to wear them it ended to be 5 degrees..). The prospect of listening to some new music, having drinks outside (and in Copenhagen that means bring your own bottle of wine and booz up EVERYWHERE you want – no police that tells you its illegal to drink on a pavement and to top it all, there are so many free festivals during the summer!) is fucking exciting!
The weather over here has been pretty amazing, solen skinner seems to be more the norm these days! Even though, after facebook stalking my friends that back in NL it has been “terrasjesweer” (weather to have a glas of vino outside), I definitely hope that day will come soon here too!.
But for now some crazy nice spring tunes, song that I have been listening over and over again last spring and summer!
When my friend S. told me she went to this little island called Nikoi and described how amazing her stay was I knew I HAD to go there too. Nikoi is a 15 hectare private island 8km off the east coast of Bintan, Indonesia and located less than 85km from Singapore. After some sessions of persuading the boyfriend, he finally gave in to going there – even though it would cut a major part out of our budget and means more travelling around Asia (while our main goal was just to relax).
But I sure did enjoyed our stay there! It has been, BY FAR, the prettiest place I have ever been to in my life! It has about 20 private villa’s and OH MY GOD how pretty where they! We had outdoor showers, a private part of the beach incl. a gazebo where we got massages and the soothing sound of the ocean to fall asleep to.
“It is ringed with white sandy beaches and coral reefs of spectacular colour and diversity and a coastline studded with magnificent white granite boulders that seemingly defy gravity. Rising to a height of 30m, the island also boasts a rain forest where colossal trees, including native Banyan trees, provide a sanctuary to a diverse population of local birds.”
Everyday the excellent chefs made us an amazing breakfast, wonderful lunch and a to die for dinner all in traditional Indonesian style! Unfortunately I forgot my SD card today, but I really wanted to share this place with you today. So I stole some pictures of their website to show you guys! I will post some of my own pictures tomorrow 😀
After the crazy period of writing my master thesis in 7 weeks and right before a new hectic period of moving to a new country and starting a new job, the boyfriend and I decided to go for some weeks of tranquility! We started our journey in Singapore where we had the pleasure to meet up with some old friends and meet some new!
Somewhere in between eating Laksa, Chicken Rice and just enjoying the whole hawker centres again we kinda forgot to make a lot of pictures.. We kinda forgot a lot! But don’t be scared, more pictures will come from the other pieces of heaven we visited!
My guilty sin – LUSH // Make up brushes // Make Up stationary // Hjemmesko – a little gift from the boyfriend to make me feel more home // Polaroids on the wall // New in – Ikea clothing rack // Globe // My attempt to grow some green
As promised some more pictures of my new home. If I ever acquire the skills to make pictures of interiors I will make and post some pictures of the apartment itself. But for now you have to do it with these 😉
