Best invention ever!

The boyfriend pretty much accuses me of buying useless and unnecessary things on a daily basis (story of my life..), but even he had to agree that the above showed tool has been the best invention ever!! It’s a pineapple cutter device, you stick it in, twist it around (that’s what she said) and a neatly cut pineapple comes out! The bitter innerpart and the outer part will complete be removed!

LOVES IT!

MUST TRY! nam nam – Vesterbrogade 39

READ MY ACTUAL REVIEW HERE

When I was biking around in Vesterbro the other day I found the biggest surprise since I have moved to Denmark. I saw a door with big red letters where they had all kinds of familiar dishes on it, when I looked closer I found out: it’s a fucking Singaporean restaurant!!!!! I honestly am soooo excited that I found this place, being half Singaporean food is pretty much my religion. Growing up with a Singaporean dad there was always a lot of Singaporean food in the house: laksa, chilly crab, chicken rice.. I think my dad made the food primarily for himself to feel less homesick (if he ever felt homesick.. perhaps he was just hungry) and luckily I was there to enjoy it too! This kind of food makes me feel home where ever I am – even when I actually lived in Singapore eating Laksa made me feel like being home..

So immediately when I came home after my bikeride (not true, after seeing Denmark lose from Portugal) I googled this place called nam nam (to be honest, the name could have been picked out better..) and found out that this place is co-owned by Claus Meyer – owner of the world best restaurant Noma (!!!) and a Danish/Singaporean couple who used to have a restaurant called Nams Kusine in Dragør (to be honest I have no idea where that is) but which they unfortunately had to close down in 2005. Mr. Meyer was so crazy about their food that he promised himself that if he could ever find the strength, he would offer Michael and Tin to reopen their restaurant in an updated version in Copenhagen City. And luckily that day was 24th of May!!!

I honestly can not wait to eat here and I hope with all my heart that I won’t be disappointed. To be continued…

But we still can win…

So last Saturday was definitely not Holland’s finest moment.. As I told you, I don’t give a damn about football, but I was pretty convinced we would win this one.. Denmark is not particularly known for its football talents (instead its handball.. HANDBALL?!) and well during the world championship 2 years ago we made it through to the finals. So Denmark should have been a piece of cake..

But now we all know better..

Irma is Denmark most expensive super market chain (comparable to Albert Heijn) where I actually pretty much never go to.. But ha-ha what a humor the guys have over there.. Taber means loser in Danish.. I’m still pretty sure we will do better than Denmark, but for now I’m gonna swallow myself in my sorrow.

A Day in Dyrehaven

For my 2nd birthday party with my boyfriend family we went out for a picnic in Dyrehavn. We brought some pastasalat (always a succes for picnics!), fruitsalat and apple pie with us on the bike (pretty handy a basket on your bike).

Dyrehavn is about 45 minutes on bike from Copenhagen and within it Bakken (Europe’s oldest amusement park) is located. We actually saw some deers walking loose (but of course I couldn’t find my camera anyway near me..), so that’s pretty much the story of my life regarding making pictures..

Holland – Denmark

I don’t really like football thaaat much, never have and probably never will. HOWEVER, being Dutch in Denmark and with the first game in the pool being Holland – Denmark I have to get myself psyched up! I will head over to Ofelia Beach later today to watch the games with some (both Dutch and Danish) friends of mine – but dear people at Ofelia why are we not allowed to bring our own beers? I promis we Dutch will keep it cool…

For which team will you scream?
