Today’s Acne Sample Sale & Maria Black Pop-up Shop

ACNE studios might be Sweden’s most popular apparel brand and jiha they are having a sample sale today! Most of the things (okay, everything..) are definitely above my budget, so a sample sale comes in handy!

I’m in love with Maria Black’s Monocle and have been planning to buy it for months. But their website’s stocklist is one big question mark: “Stockists are fashion boutiques, high-end jewellers and galleries across the world” so I had no idea really where it was for sale. So hopefully it will be mine by tonight!

Nike Marathon Start Up

So with way too much confidence I started on the Nike Marathon Start Up yesterday. I had no idea if I could do it and in addition I hadn’t really ran in a week or 2. My knee started to act up like an old woman every time I walk down the staircase (and honestly I don’t “believe” in injuries.. I ain’t got no time for that..), so I took a bit of rest before getting a x-ray (which I will get tomorrow).

But okay, so yesterday 09:30 sharp I started with the marathon start up. After my last 10K run I actually felt quite okay, so I felt quite confident in signing up for the 15K. But the biggest judgement error I made was that the Friløbet has a pretty awesome route! The halfway point is through an amusement park and you kinda have no other option after that then finishing.

The Nike Marathon Start Up, however, has an awfully boring route through Fælledparken, where one round is 5K and I was really struggling! I have this love/hate relationship with the mental game of running and the route in Fælledparken has a lot of turns and twist where you run on one side (for example on 3K), where the other runners are passing on the other side of the road (on for example 4K) where you continously feel like “so-close-yet-so-far-away”. I was struggling the most with running the same route, where you actually have the option to stop before your goal. So when I was close to the 10K and I got overtaken by those who were running 15K in 4 minute something, I decided it was enough.

I finished with a time of 1:09:12, where I finished 1:08:29 last time. I was actually (besides the not finishing the 15K) okay with this result, since I walked a couple of times (where I only ran with the Friløbet). I already signed up again for the Nike Marathontest (call me crazy), where you run a 10, 15 and 21,1K run every month from February til April.

What Happend To Craig David?!

Craig David pretty sums up my teenage years. UK Garage and 2-step definitely made being 16 a whole lot easier: haha, remember how everything was the end of the world at that age? Everything was so intense: the troubled first love, the arguments with the parents and on top there was also some growing up to do.. I definitely make it sounds a lot harder than it actually was: I had a great group of friends, I breakdanced with the guys (haha, yeah I was a b-girl together with the appropriate bandana’s..) and my school was actually pretty cool..

But okay, I was one of those way too young girls, heading over to NOW & WOW (most epic club in the history of clubbin) in way too colorful clothing, home-made shirts (safety pins were key), sunglasses and hats. It’s pretty hilarious to think back about and I even find it a bit annoying to be in Copenhagen now – while I should be in the Netherlands and find some pictures of this period to add to this blog (note to myself: find myself these pictures pronto!).

But okay, back to the music.. Even today UK Garage/2-step remains to be one of my favorite music styles. It always has a feel-good melody, with a BPM that actually makes you wanna dance even when driving in the car and it just makes me feel in a constant mood of nostalgia. It just puts a smile on to my face! So when I heard re-rewind again, I was wondering what happened to mister David himself. I remember that a year or 2 ago, I’ve heard some pretty lame songs from him. But what he is actually doing these days, it broke my heart…

Craig David, what happened to you?! From singing about how you met a girl on Monday, took her for a drink on Tuesday to walking away from the troubles in your life (who hasn’t heard these songs at least a million times..) you ended up here? In this dark place where you end up with a girl in a toilet. Which is fine with me, everybody has the right to their own thang.. But from this soullifting uk sound, you fell back in this dirty eurohouse trash?! I can’t even describe the beat of this song because it honestly hurts my ears.. It has filters, it has (the bad kind of )synthesizers and it has everything bad that kinda portraits this centuries (euro-) house music (pretty big statement, I know. There’s still a lot of good house music. But you all also know the house music that actually makes it to the radio is just B.A.D.).

I would honestly give up all my savings (okay, not everything..) for Artful Dodger to come back together and hit it up again with Craig David and see if they still have the magic.

What do you think about Craig’s latest collaboration?

Fall Things

20121021-154505.jpg

I’m a Summer kind of gawl: the shorts, the flip-flops, the no make-up, the tanning… BUT one thing that I love and adore (and probably the only thing I have missed) about Fall is putting candles in our apartment! This is how our dinner table looks like these days with a.o. a candle holder from HAY, some candles from Ikea, Rituals and Iittalla, and of course some Halloween decoration!

MAKE UP FOR EVER – Aqua Rouge

I found my new holy grail! MAKE UP FOR EVER released their latest addition to the AQUA range: AQUA ROUGE and it is awesome! It’s a liquid lipstick that is applied in two steps: an intense and vibrant color and a gloss coating, which results in an incredibly long-wearing lipstick.

Step 1: The liquid lipstick melts onto the lips and leaves intense, extremely high-coverage and matte color.
Step 2: The top coat delivers a vinyl finish and acts like a shield that protects the color. It also provides the lips with a feeling of comfort.

Doesn’t it looks like I have a lazy eye on this picture?!

Okay, so I got this one yesterday and oh my, it sure it long-wearing, think: lunch, 2L of water, some kisses and even a bit of Crossfit! I got the nr 9, which is somewhere between red and bordeaux in and I love it! The problem with lipstick for me is often, that I already glides of my face the moment I leave my apartment. But this definitely sticks around for a bit, without any touch-ups!

Excuse my iPhone for the crappy quality, but I just wanted to show you guys how long-wear this is! I made this picture 8 hours after applying the AQUA ROUGE and that’s a pretty solid achievement in my opinion! So guys, if you’re searching for a Christmas gift for your girlfriend and you’re fed-up with kissing of her lipstick (or worse: end up with glitters on your face…), this is definitely a recommendation!!!

-Janet
