Paris: Au Passage

person

I like food, no I love food. I can eat all day long and there’s always some space for more. So when we were in Paris I actually didn’t have any shopping plans, but was longing for oysters, steak tartare and nice glasses of wine.

And we sure found all of these in Paris’ best kept secret: Au Passage. Au Passage is a typical petite restaurant hidden in a side street of the 3rd arrondissement. It is so hidden, that I actually don’t think you’d ever bump into it without actually looking for it. But it is sure worth searching for!

The boyfriend and I had our best meal ever here (honestly, I dream about this place, it was THAT nice)! They serve small plates to share, which means that you can try a lot of different dishes (and I LOVE this! The more the merrier..) and they serve amazing wine without trying to sell the most expensive bottle. Our waiter actually advised the cheapest bottle of white wine because he fell in love with it and so did we. In general, the staff extremely cool and helpful and everybody spoke well English. But best of all: the restaurant is really really affordable. We ordered 2 glasses of champagne, a bottle of wine, 2 dessert wines, 2 more drinks (yes, we might be alcoholics) and 7 small dishes and we only paid 100 euro (which is really really cheap compared to Danish standards).

In the youtube clip you can see what we ate, they have a lot of seafood (love it!) and while the chef is from New Zealand the food is prepared in a traditional French style. How I miss Paris…

If you’re planning to go to Paris, you definitely have to book a table at Au Passage! Forgot to book a table? After 21.30 they often have some tables free again.
