O.P.I. – Man With The Golden Gun Topcoat

First of all, sorry for the lack of posting. I have been sick for the better part of last week (darn you Fall weather!) and besides Kulturnatten (a night where Copenhagen and all of its cultural institutions are open), a couple of sample sales and watching series my life hasn’t really been that excited! But okay, this week (actually, I think today is the exact date) the new O.P.I Skyfall 007 (James Bond) limited edition got released.

Even though my mom and sister send me a survival package last week filled with goodies (among others these amazing Essie nailpolishes) and I kinda thought I was really content with my nail polish stash (perhaps I’ll make a pictures of them soon), I couldn’t resist to pursue the Man with the Golden Gun Topcoat! Luckily the boyfriend stayed home for the day and I could convince him to head over to the department store Magasin and buy the last bottle!!

Sorry for the insane difference in quality in the above pictures, I made them after dinner and the lighting in my apartment is not really thaaaat efficient. The Man with the Golden Gun Topcoat sure is a special topcoat: it is filled with flakes of 18 carat gold!! More luxurious than that you won’t find it! I’m wearing it on top of my new Orly Bonder Top (which I’m pretty content about! Who knows, a review might follow) and Essie’s “Bordeaux”. It spreads easy on the nails, but you might need more than one layer to get a cosy amount of gold on them! I’m so in love with it! So rush out of the door and get yourself a bottle too for 295 kroner/39.95 euro!

Ciaté Caviar Manicure

Just about every time I firmly forbid myself to buy anything new, something is being launched that I just HAVE to buy.. Ciaté’s Caviar Manicure is only one example of that..

A couple of months ago, when the first pictures appeared on the blogosphere of Ciaté’s Caviar Manicure I already decided that I had to try this out too. I have the craziest kid claws that a 25 year old can have and putting nail polish is pretty much the only way for me to transform them into anything adultish.

So when I headed to the Netherlands they were finally launched at Sephora, but with all those beauty freaks the color I wanted was sold out in 1 day. In addition, they charged 29.95 euro – which seamed to be a bit over priced.. So I ended up empty-handed and quite forgot about it to be honest..

But with the new Danish Sephora and a bit of delay of product releases in Scandinavia combined with facebook status updates I found out that they were also launched in Copenhagen! You had no idea how long that work day felt for me and I biked to Sephora as soon as the church bell rang 4 o’clock (haha, metaphorically speaking.. and yes that’s when a Danish workday ends). The best thing about it? They “only” cost 165 kroner, which is about 22 euro and it being closer to 20 euro instead of 30 it just seems to be more reasonable priced.

But okay, so now you know my nail life story not it’s time for the review 😎

I bought the multi color version, even though I also really liked the black version. I am in love with the “caviar” balls, however the pink nail polish that comes with it, is not really a color I would choose myself though (it’s more barbie meets trailer trash pink). It’s supposed to stay on for about 2 days, but being a bit impatient and having actual things to do in the house I lost some of the little balls already the first night, but it still looks really cool no matter what! I feared the taking it off part, but it’s actually quite okay. It takes about a cotton pad each finger, but it takes no longer than 5 seconds to “melt” the balls with nail polish remover. I would advice to do this above the sink, otherwise you might swipe all the balls on the floor (I speak from experience). I guess the caviar manicure is something I will use more for special events, but it definitely is something nice to have!

Sephora in Copenhagen II: New Store Opening 26 September (Field’s Shoppingcenter)

I can’t believe I haven’t mentioned this yet, but on the 26th of September is Sephora opening their 2nd location in Denmark! After their succesful opening of their shop-in-shop inside of Illum, their 2nd shop will open inside Field’s Shoppingcenterr.

I’m not a big fan (actually not at all) of shopping center’s in Europe, in general I find them depressing and more a hang-out for teenagers with a curfew but the fact that Sephora is opening there definitely makes it tripworthy for me! And who knows, the biggest mall in Scandinavia might even become a new hot-spot for me! Field’s Shoppingcenter is located 10 minutes from Kongens Nytorv (city center) and all y’all have to do is take the metro towards Vestamager and get off at Ørestad station, which is right by Field’s main entrance.

The new shop will be 300 m2 and will sell brands like Make Up For Ever, Benefit, Dr. Brandt Skincare, Nails Inc., and Sampar. Can I hear a WHOOP WHOOP for that?! I’m really anticipating for the moment when new brand will be released to the Scandinavian market such as Too Faced, Urban Decay and Cargo..

Will you go to the opening?

-Janet

New In: Make-up!

One of my guilty sins are definitely make-up and nailpolish. So when there was a shopping night sale at Sephora last Wednesday (20% discount on everything) I had to take a look! I ended up buying this gorgeous lipstick by YSL (Volupté Sheer Candy nr 5), it looks really dark on the picture but it’s actually quite sheer. So it results in a healthy snow-white berry color on the lips, I love it!

The other two beauties by Essie (Tart Deco and Mint Candy Apple – the names actually quite suit the color!) I got for my birthday (shame on me forgot to take a picture of them). Both are really nice summer colors and with the rainy Danish summer I can definitely use something to brighten up my day!.

O.P.I. Holland Collection

Since the opening of Sephora I have been there at least once a week. I have been a tad disappointed with the level of (or rather lack of..) service at the shop compared to the shops in Paris and Asia, but nevertheless it is still pretty amazing!

Sometimes I leave empty handed but on better days I don’t! I bought these pretty little fellows the other day and they come from the Holland collection (how appropriate!). The gray/blue/glitter is called “I don’t give a Rotterdam” and the AMAZING bright orange color is called “A roll in the Hague”. I’m not gonna lie to you, I just bought the colors based on the names: I studied seven years in Rotterdam and the Hague is my hometown. So why not some recognition in the form of nail polish!
