Distortion 2013

IMG_4346

Hi guys and girls,

I’m still recovering from Copenhagen most awesome week Distortion. It is a bit like the Dutch “Koninginnedag” but that times a week. There are street parties from Wednesday till Friday and a Final Party on Saturday. My bff visited from Amsterdam and we’ve met heaps of new people. My body is definitely fighting against all the alcohol abuse, so I’ll keep this week nice and slow 😉

I brought my camera the first two days and had to leave it home after because I lost my lens cap :( But here are some of my random pictures of friends and strangers 😉

Distortion x Night Hosts

fb-hosts

Distortion is definitely one of my favorite things to-do in the Spring of Copenhagen. It is a free one-week festival, taking place in the streets of Copenhagen where every district competes with each other for the best party award.

Unfortunately the organization wasn’t able to raise enough funds to keep the one-week festival in its original format, so this year not all districts will compete and the party is “downsized” to a five-days festival. However, to compensate they invited some pretty cool organizations and clubs to host their own dance floor. I’m thrilled that my favorite club in Amsterdam Trouw is also organizing one of the nights!!

Distortion will be all over Copenhagen from the 29th of May till the 2nd of June. If you are thinking about a city trip to Copenhagen, this period is definitely recommended!

Here are some pictures of last year’s Distortion.

Distortion Final Party

Jacob and Junko || Christian || Kermit || Armageddon the day after || When the sun came up || On my way home

First of all, my apologies for the major crap quality of my pictures this post. I made them all with my iPhone and it definitely is not the same as with the DSLR.. But anyhow, here some pictures of the final party which was EPIC! It was damn cold (I swear, it could have been winter) but the atmosphere, surroundings (an old remote warehouse area) and the people where great!

Thank you Distortion for a great weekend, I probably need a month to recover.. See you next year 😀

Under the motto there’s no harm in trying my next goal for now: getting sponsored tickets for Roskilde, anyone?!

Distortion Day 3: Vesterbro

After being soaked by the rain we finally reached to the after party || Party bus || Entrance || Warehouse party || This time all the Danes kept their clothing on, and more.. || Skatepark || Biking home again in crazy rain

So yeah, Im gonna be honest with you. I haven’t seen sh*t from the Vesterbro street parties. When I was finally outside, around 22.00, it was pouring rain and I haven’t seen a single stage or heard music on the streets. Since every bar was packed to the max with people that couldn’t stand the rain either anymore, we were kinda forced to go into any random place to warm up with a cold bottle of wine (the irony). So we went to Bio Mio in Kødbyen, which actually is a quite nice place and I definitely am going back to try the food. After a bottle of wine, a lot of good conversations and finally a warm body again we decided to go to the official after party.

Most of my friends don’t go to the after parties and who can blame them. When you start boozing up around 12.00, most people are either in the gutter or in bed 12 hours later.. So I was positively surprised how crowded the party was! It was still raining like a mad men and the one act (Mike Skinner from the Streets) that I really wanted to see was outside, so I kinda let that one slide. It was located in some old warehouses and in a skatepark (so a definite 10 out of 10 for the location!) and besides that most areas had awful sound systems it was a great fest!! Good music, cosy packed, and it made me think: perhaps next year less drinking in the day time and more enjoying of the after parties – because they are definitely worth it!

Tonight is the Final Party also in some warehouses, I’m not sure if I’ll go there – you have to know I’m not 24 anymore and 3 days partying in a row gets to your body.. Ahaha, I kid I kid, but walking, biking and partying in the rain yesterday does!

Perhaps see y’all tonight!!

-Janet

All good stuff comes from Holland..

The lovely people at Heineken just made my Distortion even better!! They gave me this awesome street speaker by ION and two turpases with which you gain access to the daily after parties and the final party. So can we get a WHOOP WHOOP for Heineken?!

-Janet
